The Center Spear is used to salvage the broken wire in the oil pipe.
The Center Spear is an overshot composed of a male buckle top part and an elastic tip welded on the spear rod. A sharp strip is welded on the sharp piece to form a hook shape for grabbing the end of the broken wire that has formed a hook loop. When the wire breaks under the packing box, a single piece such as a slotted barrel wire finder is run to locate the broken end and smash it into a ball before running the spear.
